Edward Martin, representative of the CFDT, ArcelorMittal,ARTIST SERIES has killed the suspense. "We received a call Friday night at a European Works Council following which the group would announce the final closure of Madrid" he says.

If the plant is closed,IN-EAR that does not mean immediate decommissioning of industrial facilities. "This is the method of ArcelorMittal to dismantle the sites without having to spend money to clean up the land," laments Edward Martin.

ArcelorMittal's management has the situation differently. It "intends to extend for an indefinite shutdown of the blast furnace and electric steel production at its facility associated Villaverde (Madrid)". The steel plant is already halted for several
OVER-EAR months.
